The Wrong Kind of Expert

Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada. When I was on my feet, I loved playing tennis. And when it came to my backhand, I thought I was doing pretty good—I mean I got the ball over the net, right? But my wrist was bent, my grip was wrong, and my body position wasn't square with the net. In other words, I become an expert in poor backhand. And there are a lot of us who have become ‘expert’ at doing something very wrong. Peter says in Second Peter chapter 2, "They never stop sinning; they are experts in greed." Yep, there are Christians who, after so many years of repetitive sin, have gotten very good at doing the wrong thing. But you and I need to train ourselves to do the right thing. That means practice, practicing the right thing every day and letting go of those sinful ways. Please don't get good at doing something wrong. Instead, become an expert at living right.
