What Does God Ask of You?

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Some time ago I was forced to lie in bed for a month in order to heal a couple of pressure sores. Unable to lift even my head off the pillow, I was tempted to think, “God, none of my friends are facing these big faith-challenging tests. Aren’t you asking a bit much of me?” But let’s examine that question. Just what does God ask of us? Deuteronomy sums it up. “What does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” According to that Bible verse, all God asks for is... everything. So if trials have you feeling like a martyr, you are concentrating too much on what God asks of you and not enough on what God has given you. And He’s given you everything—everything in His own precious Son. Something to think about that today, if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
