Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The other day I was backing my wheelchair out of my van on a steep hill. I could not see behind me and with the van on a tilt, I knew the ramp was even steeper. Now, my husband Ken was there holding my wheelchair, and he kept saying, “It’s okay, Joni; I’m here; I’ve got you.” But I wondered, Would my wheelchair be too heavy for him? Did Ken really see how steep the ramp was? Several people were watching, and I knew I had a choice. I could either make my husband look good by trusting him and backing out of the van, or I could make him look untrustworthy by questioning his assurances. Would I trust his word? Well friend, that is the same with trusting God. When you trust God to do what He promises to do, you show everyone looking on that God’s Word is reliable. And nothing feels better than touting God’s good reputation in front of others.
