Stay with me

Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada. How many times do you think Jesus ever asked for help? I can’t think of too many times, except for that night when He and His disciples were in the Garden of Gethsemane. It was there that night that Jesus asked His three closest friends if they would mind coming with him a little further to pray. And what’s interesting is, in Matthew chapter 26, there are two little words added that aren’t in the other Gospel accounts. Jesus asks, “Stay with me.” Those words “with me” are so touching because it’s the only place in the Bible where the Lord directly asks someone for human companion-ship. But instead, all He got was snoring from 11 men who couldn’t even keep awake to lend moral support to the Son of Man. Is Jesus telling you today to stay with Him? Take time from your busy life to be with Him in prayer. After all, He says simply to you, “Stay with me.”
