A Start for Gratitude

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Sometimes it’s hard to give thanks when times are tough. But the Bible thinks we can, and we should, like God says in Ephesians chapter 5. It says we should “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of Jesus Christ.” Always? For everything? Really? Well, the Bible says really. Because, no hurt or pain can touch a child of God unless it has first been filtered through the loving fingers of our God. Yes, what reaches us might be painful, but still, we’re to give thanks in all circumstances. So today, if you are struggling to do that, start by giving thanks for God’s attributes. How about that? Or thank Him for your salvation or for His sovereign protection. Find things for which you can give thanks. For if your suffering Savior could do it—and He did—He empowers you to do the same. In any and all circumstances give thanks.
