Hi, this is Joni and I remember when I was brand-new to my wheelchair, it depressed me to sit in church and hear people around me, sing "Stand up, stand up for Jesus, these soldiers of the cross." To me, it was just another painful reminder that I was unable to physically stand up. But now, so many years later, as I look back on that time, I think: Joni, your vision was so limited.… Understandable, but limited. Because now I think I am able to stand up taller in my heart, then many people I know who actually stand up on their feet. As a follower of Jesus, I've discovered over the years that there really are more important things in life than walking. Yep, I am spiritually standing tall, supported by the grace of God that helps me to look past that which is physical (which is so temporary), to that which is unseen (which is so eternal). And I invite you to stand up and do the same.
