Spreading Sunshine

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My Uncle Eddie is with the Lord now, but he was so fun to be around! I loved paling around with him when our families would go camping. He was always smiling or joking or wrestling with us kids. And as long as I can remember, he always sang “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey.” He mastered an art I wish more of us practiced: simply spreading sunshine. People are starved for smiles and hungry for joy! How great it is when we can give God’s joy to those who are without a reason for smiling. Jesus did that. He came across countless gloomy people, but He never required smiles of those around Him… rather, He gave them His.  So don’t get angry at the person who acts in a manner that displeases you. Give him the smile that he lacks. Like the children’s song goes, Jesus wants you for a sunbeam.
