Space at the Table

When I was little, and dinner was announced, my sisters and I would all run to our place at the table.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I was little, and dinner was announced, my sisters and I would all run to our place at the table. We just knew which seat was ours. No one had assigned it; it was just… ours. It’s reassuring to know you have a place at the table. And it’s especially comforting to know that you have a place at the Lord's table. Psalm 23 says, “You prepare a table before me, oh Lord, in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.” That’s something to think about the next time you approach the Lord's Table to take Communion. As a Christian, you have a place there. You belong. You should feel at home. To stay away from the table because our hearts are cold is like refusing to go near the fire until we are first warm. So come to the Lord’s table—to find our place and to be fed God's grace. What a blessing to know you belong… you’ve got a place.
