The Seminary of Suffering

Over the years, I’ve drawn so close to Christ and learned so many rich insights from His Word.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Over the years, I’ve drawn so close to Christ and learned so many rich insights from His Word. But not once did I learn those lessons during times of ease and comfort. Now, you don’t have to be paralyzed and struggle with chronic pain like I do; we all wrestle with disappointment and hardship. The challenge for us is: when suffering comes, do we do everything to avoid it, medicate it, or ignore it? Or do we let it push us down the blood-stained path to Calvary where we can find real help and hope? The testing of my faith and yours is more precious than gold, the Bible says. So, friend, let’s boast all the more gladly of our weaknesses so that the power of Christ may rest on us. For the sake of Christ, let’s be content with weaknesses and hardships; let’s not waste them… for when we are weak, then we are strong in Jesus.
