Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada. Isaiah chapter 61 tells us that the Lord has anointed us—that’s you and me—to preach good news to the poor ... and to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes. Well, that’s exactly what our Wheels for the World team did for little Sandra in Cameroon, West Africa. You see, Sandra was born with clubfeet, unable to walk, meaning she spent most of her time on the ground. Well, back then when we first met little Sandra, she was covered with filth and lice, dirt and ashes. But after a bath and the gift of a new little dress, our physical therapist fit her with a child-sized wheelchair and that was indeed “a crown of beauty” to replace the ashes of her discarded life. Friend, each and every one of us is called to reach out to those that others discard. So, if you’d like to take on that calling, learn more about Wheels for the World at joniandfriends.org.
