Rumplestiltskin

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and as a child, I loved it when Daddy would read me fairy tales. One of my favorites is the story of Rumpelstiltskin, remember him? He was an old elfin who was able to—now get this—weave gold out of straw. I always thought it would be wonderful to be able to do such a thing, but you know what? You can! All you have to do is think of your earthly problems as your pile of straw. There’s no value in straw, but the Bible assures you that out of the most worthless things can come glorious riches. When you welcome that straw as your friend (that trial, pain or tribulation), when you let God work in it and through it, then that problem has value; it has worth! It’s golden! So, be a Rumpelstiltskin—get your pile of straw and place it on God’s divine spinning wheel. Then, see how he “worketh … a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
