Resolving Anger

You know, we all get angry; it’s just part of what it means to be human.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, we all get angry; it’s just part of what it means to be human. But when it comes to anger, you and I can do something about it. First, assess the situation because anger is always provoked (by people or circumstances). Secondly, think about your reaction. Do you find yourself mentally cursing the problem and the people involved? Well, that should tell you something about your heart and your motives. Like maybe pride over what others think of you... or greed, wanting to have things your way. Next, ask yourself what is true about the situation... especially what is true about God in that situation. God is a very present help in every trouble and He’s ready to give you grace to respond peacefully. It happens when we confess our anger, look to Him for wisdom, and then show grace and mercy toward others. That is how to put away anger and glorify God.
