Hi, I'm Joni Eareckson Tada. Marlys and her friends with disabilities were at an international prayer center, when a staff member asked her to step outside the prayer room. The staff were concerned that her two blind friends had gone into the prayer room with their guide dogs.  Like, thinking the dogs would grieve the Holy Spirit! When she told me this story, I remembered Jesus’ words in Matthew chapter 23 where He said, “You give a tenth of your spices … But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness … You blind guides!” – that’s an interesting choice of words – “You blind guides, you strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.” Ouch! Oh friend, let’s not lose our focus. Don’t allow yourself to be a blind guide. Because even higher than all the rules that might say “No dogs allowed,” is God’s delight in people drawing closer to Him.
