There’s a story that tells of a small detachment of British troops in the South African campaign.

Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada. There’s a story that tells of a small detachment of British troops in the South African campaign. On the battlefield, there were injured men who, when they realized they would only survive if they came under the protection of the flag of the Red Cross, used the blood from their wounds to paint a large red cross on a piece of white cloth and wave it in the air. When the enemy saw that flag with the bloodstained cross, the Red Cross, they held their fire. Oh, that’s a powerful story! Because aren’t we all wounded people crying out for help? But we are protected by Christ, by His blood shed upon His cross. And as Exodus chapter 12 says, when God sees the blood … He will save you. Friend, if today you feel overwhelmed with fear or weariness, picture yourself under the flag of the Savior. For there, you will be covered by the blood that saves.
