A Little While

Life is hard. And I mean it. I can honestly say, dealing with a chronic condition, life only keeps getting harder.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Life is hard. And I mean it. I can honestly say dealing with a chronic condition, life only keeps getting harder. It’s why I hold on to First Peter chapter 1, which reminds me that “In this (that is, in my condition) you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.” All kinds of trials is right—quadriplegia, depression, cancer … and chronic pain? But the smile on my face is real. How so? My condition is only for a little while. It’s momentary compared to the surpassing glory that my response is accruing in heaven. Knowing that? I can hold on a little bit longer. Matthew chapter 24 says that he who stands firm to the end shall be saved. So friend, today, stand firm. God’s grace is getting me through, and His grace will get you through. One day you will look back, and it’ll all seem like… just a little while.
