Once when I was leading a small group discussion, my heart broke to hear so many painful stories.

This is Joni Eareckson Tada, and once when I was leading a small group discussion, my heart broke to hear so many painful stories. The ladies looked to me for advice. I didn’t know what to say, so read Hezekiah’s words from the book of Isaiah. He lamented, “What can I say? He has spoken to me and he himself has done this. I will walk humbly all my years because of this anguish of my soul... surely, it was for my benefit that I suffered ... and ... you kept me from the pit of destruction.” All of us fell quiet... we realized our round table created a circle of sharing in Christ’s sufferings. God was in the midst of our pain, God was sitting at our table. The pain was for our benefit; and our response? To walk humbly. And today, that's good advice for you.
