The Old Testament book of Nehemiah is known for its emphasis on prayer.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The Old Testament book of Nehemiah is known for its emphasis on prayer. Nehemiah is a cupbearer in the palace and hears that the walls of Jerusalem have been broken down. Four months pass, during which he prays and considers what God might have him do. When the king finally notices something is bothering Nehemiah, Nehemiah “prayed to the God of heaven and answered the king.” He had already spent four months in prayer, but, isn’t that something, right before he responds to the king, he prays again. And what I love, is that prayer had turned Nehemiah into a man of vision – “let me go build walls,” he says. Prayer had also turned Nehemiah into a man of courage to speak as he did to the king. Friend, if you want to be a better leader, a courageous leader, an even visionary leader… follow Nehemiah’s example and start with prayer.
