Keeping Silent

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The Eastern Sierras have unusual beauty that many mountains lack. With snow-covered peaks muscling up right off the desert floor and grand thunderheads towering overhead? To take a deep breath, and stand before that amazing landscape and hear, no, feel the quiet … it’s awesome. The Eastern Sierras are so serene. So still and peaceful. The prophet Habakkuk said, “Let all the earth keep silence before Him.” The power in God’s creation somehow seems so much more commanding when, in all of its awesome grand-scale splendor, it is completely silent. It leaves you a little breathless. Perhaps you’re not near a desert today or mountains, but take time to find a landscape… a place of quiet. Breath in the beauty of God’s creation, let it overwhelm you, and keep silent before Him. It’s a wonderful way to worship.
