Jewels in His Crown

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.  I love for my wedding ring to shine.  Almost every week, I ask my friend who gets me up to scrub it clean – get out a soft toothbrush with just a touch of toothpaste and, oh, does it sparkle.  Like that ring, we believers are jewels.  Malachi 3 says:  "And [God] had a Book of Remembrance drawn up in which he recorded the names... 'They shall be mine,' says the Lord of heaven's armies, 'in that day when I make up my jewels."  That’s the way God looks at you and me:  a treasured possession of great value.  You are one of His jewels!  You’re someone very precious to God.  But remember, He wants His jewels to shine, and that’s going to mean hardship:  your soul needs a good scrubbing.  But take heart, there's a purpose.  As silver is refined and as gold is tried, God has in mind to make you shine.  It’s the sign of a well-polished gem:  you!
