Inwardly Being Renewed

I have a friend named Melinda who is struggling with a severe case of diabetes.

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.  I have a friend named Melinda who is struggling with a severe case of diabetes.  She’s lost both her legs through amputation, her eyesight, and several fingers.  I really feel for her, but I’m also inspired by her struggle because Melinda has not lost heart.  She is, in fact, a literal example of 2 Corinthians where it says, “… we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”  Friend, Melinda is literally wasting away, and next it’ll probably be her kidneys.  But because of her confidence in Christ, God is renewing her day by day.  The more physical ability Melinda loses, the more she leans harder on Jesus; and the harder she leans on Him, the stronger she becomes.  Feet and fingers are temporary.  But the soul is eternal.  That alone is worth the light and momentary troubles.  Just ask Melinda.
