What does it mean to hold—I mean really hold onto a Bible promise?

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. What does it mean to hold—I mean really hold onto a Bible promise? Well, let me tell you about the Slaight family, because in 1999, a horrible car accident changed their lives forever. Jim and Janet both suffered terrible injuries, and their children? They lost their 4-year-old little girl named Hope. What’s more, 9-year-old Hannah and 6-year-old Joey both suffered spinal cord injuries. Both kids are now in wheelchairs. I can’t imagine that kind of loss. But Jim and Janet? They held on to the promise of Psalm 28, which says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped.” Look, I don’t know what suffering you may be going through; or maybe things are going just swell for you, but troubles will come. Be prepared. Today, open your Bible to one of His promises and hold on to it no matter what comes your way.
