The world is so full of so much suffering. "It is also full of the overcoming of it," Helen Keller once said.

Hi I'm Joni Eareckson Tada and the world is so full of so much suffering. "It is also full of the overcoming of it," Helen Keller once said. Years in this wheelchair have taught me that you and I as Christians could never learn to be brave and patient if there was only joy in the world. We could never learn to be courageous if we didn't face fearful situations. Ms. Keller who was both blind and deaf went on to say, "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through the experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, can vision be cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” May I encourage you today to look at your sufferings from this perspective? Romans chapter 5 tells us that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, character! It's something worth living for. And for the sake of our Savior, it is something worth suffering for.
