He Understands

Hi I'm Joni Eareckson Tada, and the other night I could not get to sleep for the life of me. I glanced at the clock: it was 1:00 a.m., then 2:00 ... When you have a night like that, you know how anxieties creep in. For me, being paralyzed, it's especially worrisome. When I'm sitting up, I can at least throw my arms around, and even power my wheelchair. But when I'm flat in bed, I'm stuck; I can't move, it feels like I’m nailed stiff and still. So, the other night when I couldn’t sleep, it hit me, Lord Jesus, I get it; you're inviting me to share in the fellowship of your sufferings -- to understand that you genuinely know what it means to be paralyzed... paralyzed on a cross. He knows. He understands. Friend, remember that today if you feel stuck.
