Hi, I'm Joni Eareckson Tada. A few months ago I met little 3-year old Hannah at a conference. When I wheeled up to her [Hannah has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair], she looked up to me with big, doleful, admiring eyes. I was immediately mindful that this child probably didn’t know many Christian women in wheelchairs; she probably didn't have many role models. But I … I could be her role model! I was in a wheelchair; I knew what it was like. You know, kids today need examples to follow, especially boys and girls with disabilities. Oh, to help shape the character and mold the mind of a child who uses a wheelchair, white cane, or walker! Titus chapter 2 tells us to “In everything set them an example by doing what is good.” Our children are waiting for you to be their examples. So, may you in everything do what is good and be the example for generations to come.
