A Habit of Singing

We build habits around the things that matter to us. It’s why I make it a habit of singing wherever I go.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and we build habits around the things that matter to us. It’s why I make it a habit of singing wherever I go. Mostly hymns that lift up the name of Jesus, or songs that glorify the cross. Things like this matter to me, and they matter to God. Every morning as I wheel out the door, I quietly ask God to give me a song that centers on the cross. And by the time I wheel through the front door of our headquarters at Joni and Friends, I’m still either singing or humming that hymn. And I’ll sing it all the way to the second floor as I wheel up the ramp, loud enough for my coworkers to hear. And I love how the music fills the lobby. You know singing songs about what Jesus did on the cross is a way of preaching, of singing the gospel to myself. So how about you making it a habit of telling yourself the good news of Jesus every morning. And, yes, if you want, you can even make a habit of singing it.
