God's Chiseling Tool

Many believers struggle with seeing suffering as a chiseling tool in God’s hand to shape their character.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Many believers struggle with seeing suffering as a chiseling tool in God’s hand to shape their character. Instead, they look at suffering as a club in God’s hand that beats them to a pulp, but nothing could be further from the truth. It’s why James chapter 1 says we can welcome trials as friends; for they come to test our faith and produce in us endurance and perseverance. Romans chapter 5 also says that trials come to produce true Christ-like character and even a livelier hope in heaven. I know full well that’s not always an easy perspective to keep. Fifty years of quadriplegia is so hard. But friend, won’t you commit with me today, that when we encounter the next hard-hitting trial, let’s view it as a blessing from God? Oh sure, it will be a bruising of a blessing but a blessing nonetheless. For you know what? The Lord Jesus is worth it!
