Go to Jesus

Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada. So often I waste trials. Sometimes a particular hardship hits me and my first thought is just to “get through it … just plow through it and help me get to the other side,” with no thought as to coming to Jesus.  Neglecting to go to Him to find out what He wants to show me or teach me about Himself, or where He wants to take me, or what He wants me to learn through it. It’s a tragedy to suffer and not realize God's full purpose in it; it’s a waste. Our attitude, when we encounter a trial, ought to be that of Jacob who cried, “I will not let thee go except thou bless me.” May I encourage you to not rush past your troubles. Take a moment to stop and go to Jesus. And when you do, don’t let go. Let him bless you amidst your trial. Because there is so much we can learn while we suffer—riches waiting to bless your life when you come to Jesus.
