Do you know people who can sometimes be kind of gruff with rough edges?

Hi, I'm Joni Eareckson Tada and do you know people who can sometimes be kind of gruff with rough edges?  Maybe you’ve been told that you sometimes come across a little harsh.  Well, Philippians chapter 4 has some good advice, “Let your gentleness be evident to all.”  Okay, we know that much.  But how do you manage it?  How do you change from being gruff to graceful?  Well, look at the very next verse.  Let your gentleness be evident to all, for the Lord is near.  Friend, God is listening in on every conversation.  He’s sitting with our family at the supper table.  He’s in the car when you’re on your cell phone.  The Lord is near, the Bible says, and that’s why we should be gentle in our words and actions.  He’s looking right over your shoulder.  Today, think before you speak – think about not only what you have to say and how you say it… more importantly, think about who’s listening.
