Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Years ago, the father of Francie, my secretary, developed pneumonia, and had to be put on a ventilator. It was very uncomfortable—with that ventilator, her dad was pretty much fixed in one position. So what did Francie do? She printed out in very large letters several Bible verses about encouragement and taped them to the wall, including this little quotation, “The weaker we are, the harder we lean on God. The harder we lean on Him, the stronger we discover Him to be.” With the constraints of that ventilator, Francie’s dad was only able to look in one direction—at those verses of Scripture. What a difference they made in his recovery! When you feel constrained, it’s hard to look up. Despair and angst can overwhelm you. That’s when we must fix our eyes on Jesus. Place God’s Word before you today, and let it break every constraint.
