Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.  When Sharon, a mother of an adult daughter with Down syndrome, heard of our Family Retreats, she knew she had to find a way to attend.  Sharon called our office, asking if perhaps she could serve as someone else’s volunteer; she would bring her daughter, but help someone else—just so she could have a change in her routine.  But when we explained that she didn’t have to volunteer to attend the retreat—that she could come and be served—Sharon could not stop crying.  You see, for the 30 years she’s been taking care of her daughter, Sharon has never once had a vacation.  Mark chapter 6 says that when the disciples were hard at work, Jesus commanded them to “get some rest.”  If you are a caregiver to someone with a disability, may I encourage you to get some rest. Come and be refreshed at a Family Retreat.  Let us serve you at
