Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada and the other day my husband Ken and I had a chance to hang out with a few American servicemen who recently returned from Afghanistan. These guys had seen the thick of battle; and you could tell how much they loved their comrades – the very men who covered their backs in the foxhole. There’s was a true esprit de corps. And suffering does the same for Christians. It binds believers together in a common purpose – afflictions strengthen the bonds of friendship and forge hearts together in a common cause. And what is that cause? That we support each other in the thick of the battle… the spiritual battle against our Enemy. It’s why the apostle John in Revelation chapter 1 called his readers, “my brothers and companions in suffering.” Hey, friend, rejoice today in the esprit de corps that you have with your Christian friends. And don’t forget to cover their back!
