I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I remember a time when a gas station attendant forgot to put my gas cap back on my tank. When I returned for it, he showed me one that wasn’t mine (although I said it was). I drove around with it for a few days, but felt so guilty. Finally I went back and returned the gas cap. This may not sound like a big deal, but I knew enough to realize how small transgressions can quickly lead to big ones. Hebrews chapter 3 says, "Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." Sin deceives us when it says “Aw, don’t sweat the small stuff; it’s just a little transgression.” No way! We’re in trouble when we believe that sin isn’t quite as sinful as God says or that we’re not quite as bad as we really are. So let me encourage you: follow the advice of Hebrews chapter 3.
