Don't Be Like One of Them

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Back in high school, my walk in Christ did not match my talk. I remember going to a party where I should not have been. A classmate glanced across the room and he looked shocked to see me. I knew he took me to be a solid Christian, but not after that party. The damage was done. You know I was being a little like Obadiah chapter 1 where God scolds the men of Esau for acting like enemies of God’s people. I needed a good scolding that night of the party when I acted like an unbeliever. Friend, when you and I claim Christ, and yet sin willfully, our sin is especially grievous. Like the men of Esau, we should know better; we’re Christians! It’s why when a believer sins, it’s a double offense. So friend, if you are knowing that you’re doing something you shouldn’t be doing, something that makes you indistinguishable from unbelievers, be warned. It’s a double offense. And you don’t want to offend your Lord.
