Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Don has lived as a quadriplegic in a wheelchair for many years — and I'm always inspired by his upbeat attitude. The other day he wrote, "Joni … I was sitting inside Walmart while my wife was parking the van, when an elderly woman pushing a shopping cart approached me and said flatly, ‘The wipes dispenser needs cleaning!’ With that, I flashed her a smile and said cheerfully, 'Thank you, Ma’am!” Don’t you love it that the elderly woman didn’t see Don’s wheelchair but assumed he was someone in authority? In a funny way, she thought the best of him. What’s more, Don thought the best of her, not adding to the embarrassment by correcting her. And that’s a lesson for us today — First Corinthians 13 tells us to think the best of each other. So may we do that not only toward those we love, but those in the community we don’t even know.
