A Deeper Kind of Healing

Hi, I'm Joni, and my friend Linda has severe rheumatoid arthritis.  Recently someone asked her, “May I pray for your healing?”  Linda thought for a moment, smiled, then said, “Sure, but if you really want to know my number one healing prayer request, pray that I’d be broken over my selfishness.”  Bingo.  My sentiments exactly.  It’s not that God isn’t concerned about Linda’s arthritis, or my quadriplegia or someone else’s multiple sclerosis, it’s just these things aren’t his primary focus.  God is mostly interested in healing what’s on the inside; he’s concerned about making us more like Jesus. As the Lord said to his disciples, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself.”  Did you get that?  To deny yourself is to kill the deeds of the flesh, get rid of sin, and let God heal you of any pride.  That’s the path to real healing.
