Connie and Diane

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Psalm 41, says, “How blessed is he who considers the helpless.” You know, that describes me shortly after I married my husband Ken. I was helpless to iron shirts or whip up dinner. As a quadriplegic, I needed assistance. And who would have thought that help would arrive through the gracious service of other helpless people – like Diane and Connie from our church. Diane had multiple sclerosis and used a wheelchair and Connie, struggling with arthritis, was her faithful attendant. They loved finding ways to serve others, including me. And since they lived close to my neighborhood, once a week they would drive by my house, and leave a homecooked dish on the front porch. What’s amazing is, Connie and Diane needed as much help as I did; which just goes to show that no matter what your limitation, you can always serve those who need help in the spirit of Psalm 41.
