Closing the Curtain

When people learn how long I’ve been paralyzed (46 years), and when they learn I deal daily ...

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when people learn how long I’ve been paralyzed (46 years), and when they learn I deal daily with pain and am battling cancer, they ask why aren’t you cynical toward God. Well, you know why I'm not? It’s because God suffered first and He has suffered more. No other God of any other religion can claim that. The God of the Bible wrote the book on suffering, and He called it Jesus. And soon Jesus is coming back to close the curtain on suffering, just as it says in Isaiah chapter 35 where sorrow and sighing will flee away, joy will overtake us, and the lame shall leap like deer. In the meantime, I trust His plan and purpose knowing that my suffering sets the stage for my faith to act. Suffering authenticates our faith; refines it, makes it strong. So never let cynicism toward God creep in your heart when you’re going through hardships. The God of the Bible is one to be trusted.
