Cleanse Me

Because I'm a quadriplegic, every morning, someone has to give me a bath.

I'm Joni Eareckson Tada.  Because I'm a quadriplegic, every morning, someone has to give me a bath.  That’s something I really rather do myself, but I can’t.  I don’t have the strength or resources.  And when it comes to cleansing your soul, you can't either – you have no strength or resources to wash away your guilt.  Just as other hands have to clean my body, the holy hands of someone else have to clean your heart.  Only Jesus can wash you through and through – as God, He’s the one with all the resources.  Little wonder, David, the psalmist, cried to God, "Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."  David realized it was the Lord’s job to remove the stain of guilt from His heart.  So if you feel you need to say, "Create in me a clean heart, O Lord," make it your prayer.  Confess your sins and He will be faithful not only to forgive you, but to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
