Chief of Sinners

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and the more I know about Jesus, the more I see my need of a Savior. I’m a little like the apostle Paul who, at first, said “I am the least of all the apostles.” But then later when Paul gets older in the Lord, he said, “I am the least of all the Lord’s people.” Finally, near the end of his life, Paul wrote, “I’m the chief of all sinners.” Oh my goodness, as Paul kept growing in Christ, his awareness of his own sin also grew. But so did his love for Jesus and his appreciation for God’s amazing grace, and it should be the same for us. As we draw closer to Jesus, our awareness of how sinful we are cannot help but grow… but so does our awareness of God’s wonderful grace. And when that happens, your love for Jesus just keeps growing and growing. That said, from one who considers her sin great.
