C for Courage

Please don’t think I’m an expert when it comes to living in a wheelchair.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and please don’t think I’m an expert when it comes to living in a wheelchair. My question is never “Why, God?” Rather, it’s most often “How God?” How can I find the strength to face the day? Like the other morning, I could hardly bring myself to wheel out the door. I was in such pain. Ken saw the look in my eyes and said, “Wait here. I know what you need.” In an instant, he was back with a post-it note. In the middle of it, Ken had penned the letter ‘C.’ “It stands for Courage,” he said, “The courage of Christ. I can see it in your eyes, Joni, and you can do this!” I can’t explain what happened next, but grace flooded my heart. I then wheeled out into the morning feeling a fresh wave of strength from my Savior. It’s what Hebrews teaches: “Encourage one another daily.” Do that with your spouse today, would you?
