Be a Mentor

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada asking, Do you have a mentor? I’m thinking of Chris, a recent college graduate who attended Family Retreat. Chris uses a wheelchair and like most people his age, he’s eager to enter the world of adulthood. But at the same time, he’s nervous (like, Yikes! This is it; college is over, now what?!) It’s why we paired him up with Ernest as his buddy, an older man who befriended Chris and discussed possible career paths with him. It was a joy watching these two pray together every day over Chris’ hopes and dreams. Oh, friend, we all need mentors — men and women who are older and wiser than we are, people who can help us navigate life’s challenges. Proverbs 27 says, “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Want to be a mentor to a young adult with a disability? Visit and we’ll get you connected.

Have You Been Encouraged?
