American Heritage Girls

Hi I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and recently I was introduced to a troop of American Heritage Girls.  These kids were so cute in their red, white and blue uniforms, reciting their pledge and showing off their badges.  Exactly what is American Heritage Girls?  Well, it was all started some years ago when Patty, a leader of a Girl Scout troop became dismayed that God was taken out of the Girl Scout pledge.  There were some other trends in the organization that concerned her, so she asked God for wisdom and resources and created American Heritage Girls.  And now?  More than 14,000 girls across the country are involved.  And I’m especially excited that Joni and Friends helped write the requirements for their disability awareness badge.  No matter what the need, we’ve got lots of tips to help raise disability awareness in your organization too.  Find out more at
