Building a wheelchair rampMy heart breaks when I learn of a special-needs family that requires a ramp at home… but insurance just won't cover it. Well, that problem is on its way to being solved! Our friends at Handi-Ramp have compiled a national directory which includes a list of more than 200 charitable US organizations that offer free or discount services to build ramps for people with disabilities – these groups are happy to help those without the means to fund and build a ramp themselves. If your home is in need of a ramp, take a look at the directory and see if help is available in your area!

I've been trying to get my Doctor to give me a letter for a mobility scooter for a while. I thought it was just back problems but I recently found out it is arthritis in my spine. I thought surgery would help. Doctors tell me no. Finally got my scooter two months ago. I haven't been out of the house on it. I've been searching for information on how to get a ramp for quiet some time CAN YOU HELP PLEASE?

My husband needs a ramp, but not a full-sized ramp. A hard rubber wedge ramp would do it, but my insurance says it's not medically necessary. Does anyone provide help with that sort of ramp?
