MY experience as a widow/single mom of 6, including one with a TBI, one with ADHD, one with asthma and FPIES! This was our second year at Joni and Friends. While it did not go as well as last year, we were incredibly blessed to be able to be at Spruce Lake!

Joni and Friends has impacted me in many ways. I got to experience Joni and Friends family retreats from both prospective. I was a camper with my family back in 2002 and I have been an STM for 4 years now. My brother is disabled. He has CP, with MR, and epilepsy. Since he is my age, I have always been around disabilities. This past year, I had the opportunity to support others because I was the program staff at 3 weeks. I was in charge of fusion, which is the sibling group. Joni ans Friends has show me that I have a passion for disabilities and I am now a sophomore at Liberty University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. Hopefully in the future I can be a social worker for disabilities.

Happy 35th Anniversary, Joni and Friends! I am so grateful for this ministry. I would not be where I am in my walk with the Lord were it not for Joni and Friends. Here is my blog post about how Joni and Friends has impacted me.

Volunteering as an STM at Joni and Friends Family retreat has changed my life. It has impacted the mail I receive, the books I read, and how I spend my money. It has sparked a greater awareness in me to those in my immediate community who have been impacted by disability. It has caused me to ask deep questions about the role churches can play in reaching out to those who are disabled and to wonder about the spiritual formation process that occurs within a person who suffers.
