What Do I Have?

"I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances… I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation." -Philippians 4:11-12

What do I have? Well, I don’t have use of my hands, legs, or the sense of touch to feel Ken’s embrace. But I do have a voice, a wheelchair, and a husband who loves me. And that, according to the Lord, is all I need. For if there was anything more I needed, he would have given it to me.  Am I using what I have?  God never gives us a task without supplying the need. His command never comes without empowerment. Am I prepared to lose what I have? This is the litmus test of...

I was surprised that Tim had planted his vines along a steep and rocky portion of the hill. “Why didn’t you plant the vines at the base of the hill?” I asked him. “The soil...

The Visible Power of God

When I look at my daughter, Sarah, I see beauty. I see strength. I see joy. Sarah, like all of us, has been made in the image of God. Being His image bearer makes her beautiful, as does her winsome smile and that mischievous twinkle that lights up her eyes right before she tells me a joke. Sarah...

Disability has always been a part of Jaycee’s life. Growing up with an older brother affected by disability, Jaycee has always been deeply involved with disability ministry. And last year, after hearing about Joni and Friends through her mentor, she packed her bags and headed to California to be a part of our summer academy internship program.

“I didn’t know a lot about Joni and Friends, but I came anyway. And afterward, I fell in love with their ministry and their mission – so I decided to come back again this summer and become a Corporate Intern, as well as lead the Academy Internship that I was a part of last year.”

Here at the International Disability Center (IDC)...
