  • Joni's Posts, Radio

joni and ken in the radio studioRadio recording day at the International Disability Center is a pretty big deal – and an all-day one, too! Early on Tuesday morning, April 26th, I’ll head into the studio withRainey Floreen and Amy Hurtado (the JAF radio department) to get the day rolling with plenty of prayer and praise. In the control room will be Jim Sanders, my producer and, hopefully, Ken Tada will drop by for a quick interview. I’ll be recording 30 "Joni and Friends" radio programs, 45 one-minute features, and 30 public service announcements (check it out on disabilitycampaign.org). Whatever I’ll be recording on Tuesday, it’ll be all about encouragement...

  • Family Retreats, Wheels For The World

Every day at Joni and Friends is focused on outreach, and this week is no exception: It’s a worldwide whirlwind of Gospel-driven outreach! Today our Wheels for the World team is distributing wheelchairs and Bibles in Mexico – they plan to return home on April 30th. Also, our International Family Retreat is underway in Kovačica, Serbia – Serbian moms, dads, and disabled children will be experiencing Family Retreat fun and fellowship for the first time ever. And beginning April 28th, our 7th Wounded Warrior Getaway will be held near San Antonio, Texas – this particular retreat has soldier-style activities for these brave American servicemen and women who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan bearing wounds of conflict. Our Getaway provides a wonderful respite for them and their families; from rock climbing to kayaking...

  • Family Retreats

Our first International Family Retreat of the season concluded last week at the El Faro retreat center on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala – 16 Guatemalan families and their disabled family members took part in an extraordinary week of arts and crafts, swimming, games, prayer, singing, one-on-one counseling, and devotional times in God's Word. It was extraordinary because these families...

Joni speaking at a Beyond Suffering Course
On Monday morning April 18th, Ken and I will be driving to Biola University where we will be speaking to students enrolled in the "Theology of Suffering and Disability Ministry" class – this special class is an undergraduate course of study which our Christian Institute on Disability helped develop in partnership with Biola...

A Big Part of our Ministry

Joni with Chantal and Kaitlyn in the IDC library
Our Joni and Friends intern, Chantal, has been working hard the last two months to edit and update our 30-Day JAF Prayer Manual. It's been an inspirational and an encouraging project for Chantal – and fun, too. Our staff photographer snapped these smiles yesterday as Chantal and her assistant Kaitlyn presented the completed manual to Joni (with Ivan taking down copious notes). Prayer plays a big role in all of our outreach programs. If you have a heart for prayer, please join our prayer team and help us lift up before the Lord Jesus upcoming JAF events

Looking for Joni's blog?

We're making it more convenient for you to connect with Joni by placing her blog over in Joni's Corner – Joni tells us this will make it easier for her to get to your comments faster. Lots of other new things are happening in Joni's Corner, too: new people that inspire her, fresh prayer requests, and more frequent posting of up-to-date videos, stories, and photos. And as Joni often says, "Don't forget to see what's going on over on our Radio, TV, Wheels for the World and Family Retreat pages. God is doing awesome things through your prayers, giving, and your volunteer help (those of you who volunteer with us, thank you so much)!" Check out Joni's Corner today!
